Singer’s Mask Project
Support our organization by protecting your health!
Concordia is offering custom singer's masks for a suggested donation of $30. The masks are constructed in a 3D design to keep fabric away from the nose and mouth for comfort and breathability when singing or speaking. Each mask is hand-sewn by a volunteer CCA member who is a PA registered public health nurse with over 40 years of singing, public speaking, and sewing experience. Careful attention has been made to the needs of singers, actors, teachers, or any individual requiring long term use of their voice. See below for more information about construction, patterns/colors available, and care instructions.
The suggested contribution is $30 per mask, paid to Concordia Choral Arts as a tax-deductible donation. Any amount above $30 makes donors a sustaining member of our organization. Electronic payment through PayPal (treasurer@concordiachoralarts.org) or Venmo (@Treasurer-CCA) is requested. Please use the memo "Singer's Mask Project."
Mask Information:
Made of 100% cotton with a percale lining and a third protective inner layer of meltblown polypropylene fabric that is lightweight and breathable.
Flexible nose-piece and ear elastics are adjustable for a custom fit.
Fabric extends closer to the ears and under the chin, providing a seal that won't shift while singing or speaking.
Custom sizing is available upon request.
A pocket for mask filter inserts can be added upon request (filters not included).
Colors/patterns: plain black, music notes w/ black background, golf pattern w/ navy background, or light pink w/ white flourishes.
Care instructions: fill a jar or sealed container with at least 2 cups of very warm water and two drops of Dawn liquid soap. Submerge the mask and shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then let soak for 10 minutes. Remove the mask from the jar and rinse with clean water. Blot dry and air dry the mask, preferably in sunlight. Masks should be washed after each use. Do not wash in a washing machine or dry in a dryer to avoid possible shrinkage, thread pulling, stretching, or fraying that can make the mask less effective. Do not steam clean. Do not wash with bleach or spray with disinfectant products like Lysol, as these chemicals break down the cotton fibers making the mask less effective.
Please note: inventory is limited! Due to the high demand of fabric, ear elastics, and nose pieces as a result of schools and music organizations resuming their activities, production may be delayed or colors/patterns may sell out. More colors and patterns will be available in the future.
Orders may be picked up from United Church of Christ at Valley Forge on Sunday afternoons between 2:45pm and 5:15pm. Please contact Lynn Shealy at healthministry@msn.com to make an appointment or plan other pick up arrangements.
